I could be wrong but I feel your plant is still small, it is not even that easy to "tip it over" as usually suggested. Let it grow first, heck it might even produce basals while you are waiting for it to grow bigger so you can tip it over.
I have a 1 foot long Ampularia that I tipped over already but still no basal after 3 months, but I'll just keep waiting
I am just not used to seeing Amps with long vines without basals.
