Well, all the "Ministers of Home Affairs" will put a price on my head but... I use the blender to chop dried sphagnum to fine enough consistency to lay out flat in my boxes. Break it up as much as possible first (no big clumps) and use short blasts of blending...there's little/no resistance for the motor, so it heats up fast and you don't want to burn it out! The moss is so light that the un-chopped stuff will 'float' above the blades, hence the short blasts.
I agree with David, no problem as long as you have time to check them to make sure they 'never' dry out. I myself have seed boxes where they only get an hour's early morning direct sun and just bright but in-the-shade light the rest of the day.
