Judging and Voting Guidelines
The purpose of judging (By judges) and voting (By members) in this competition is to primarily recognize superior improvement in extraordinary cultivated plants and recognizing commonplace characteristics on plants that are cultivated to the highest standards.
Principals
- The hypothetical standard of perfection, at the time.
- The qualities and merits of previously awarded or known plants of comparable type, breeding or characteristics.
- The extent to which any quality or characteristics of the plant represents an advance over what has been witness.
Grooming
This includes how well groomed or disease free the plants is and taking into account the cultivation difficulty of individual species. There should not be evidence of infections or pests. The plants must be robust and the size of the plant will be taken into consideration.
Presentation
The choice of pot/pot color/size and whether there is presence of weeds/algae/media/stains. The plants have to be clean from chemical residue on its leaves and pot. The general structure and layout of the plant is important including aesthetic appeal.
Color
Take into consideration the quality of color/colors for a particular form or species. This includes the colors on the:
- Leaves
- Stems/Vines
- Flower/Inflorescence
- Traps
- Bladders
- Pitchers
- Tentacles
