Hi Ken,

The white phals you see for sale are actually hybrids combining Phalaenopsis amabilis and one or more other hybrid or species parent. The amabilis parentage gives the white colouration and yellow midlip but with generations of selective breeding for more rounded flower shape is what results in our full moon hybrids today. My two cents
