depends of the type of orchids you want to care for. Vanda can take lots of light some
can even take full sun... Dendrobium and cattleya id say medium to strong light and
Phalaenopsis low lights. For all of these I mentioned, they can be grown bare root and
just mounted on a fern slab or driftwood, but if you decide to pot them up use a freely
open mix... around here large charcoal is very popular, I even use rocks... LECA is
another choice. As for watering, Vandas and Phalaenopsis doesnt have a pseudobulb so you
should water them quite frequently I water my vandas 2x a day buy theyre just mounted or
hanging bare root. If their potted just water them when the media is approaching dryness.
As for propagation, when the plant is mature enough it will form keiki (new growths), you can
seperate them from the mother plant once they have a form a nice root.
