I grow them in a tray because they are indoors and hung in mid air. If I do not hang it that way when I water them, the water will flow out from he bottom onto my living hall floor. I also place those on a stand/shelf on a tray for the same reasons.
By the way the smart way of using the plastic hangers to hang the tray and pot was thought to me by Cindy.
