Hi Ghan...

N ventrata is a very vigorous grower and a basal will not shock the plant or slow the growth of the plant.You might only need to repoted basal shoots from slow growing neps,for N ventrata there's no need for that.But since u repotted it its fine too.

Im just guessing maybe when u repotted it,the plant's roots was damaged in some way or maybe u droped it which caused the plant to receive some shock.Basal removal rarely affects both basals and the mother plant.And also how long are those pitchers on the mother plant???Each pitchers can only last between months and a year+ The longest mine every lived was 2 years which is my ventrata.If your ventrata leaves are not affected or anything just leave it there and let it heal.
