What to feed?
« Thread Started on Sept 19, 2007, 1:03pm » Hello,
I'm Kamarulzaman from Seremban. I'm a newbie and never had CP before. I have some question here:
1. How to feed the plant? You catch insects for it or just leave it naturally.
2. Can we feed them frozen bloodworm?

Firstly a very warm welcome for u i'll promise u wont regret in trying to keep CPs as pets. heheh
Regarding ur questions..
1. If u place them outdoors, they will find their own food. worry not But its always tempting to feed them isnt it? However, u can still feed them but be careful not to put soooo many food inside the pitchers (if the CP ure refereing are neps and sarrs).
2. Yup, u can. Some members here feed them with blended frozen blood worm.. giving the CPs some refreshments - ICE BLOOD WORM BLENDED heheh - naah, no ice please...

Most CPs manage to catch insects on their own. You might want to give them extra `supplement` once a month by catching flies for your VFT or other smaller insects for the drosera.
May I know what you intend to feed the frozen bloodworms to ? Nepenthes, sarracenia ? If so, small quantities once a month will do. Do let me know what you intend to feed the worms to & I`ll try to advice.
Over feeding can be bad as well as it will lead to rot.
Generally, feeding & fertilising CPs is still a controversial subject but we can share what we do personally to try & assist you.
rgds, Tarence.
