Previously I placed it under 50% shade of netting, after which I shifted it out to a bright but indirect sunlit corner of the garden, before moving it again to completely exposed but high (on the top of a PVC pole) location. Strangely it did not form the typical 'cabbage' curl but only the tips curled like a strepto, and the leaves near the center of the plant became scorched. Since the plant is originally yellowish green instead of the usual blue green, I'm guessing it could be a hybrid of a xero with something else....strepto?
