I put it in partial shade near other plants around trying to mimic the environment in its habitat and water it and mist it frequently.

How do you get it to grow basels? I've tried with my plants. When I increase humidity, they produce picthers but at the leaves, not basel shoots.

I really don't know, it grow by itself, I think cutting the main stem should promote basals growth. Will observe it and try out some possibilities.

The method I told you before should work, didn't that work? Probably you will have to create a higher 'wall' and close the top portion abit then. Place a cup of water on the pot to let it evaporate slowly within the 'wall'. Mist it every morning and evening. Hopefully this help. « Last Edit: Mar 12, 2007, 7:08pm by cactustts »Link to Post - Back to Top

Re: My ampullaria
hi everyone
David, what plant are u refering to? im assuming that u are refering to ampu ....Not all neps has that capability of making a carpet of cute basals. As far as i know only ampu, gracilis and distillatoria like to make basals.
i have a trick to make my ampus basal. i grow them almost horizontally. For new plants, I let the stem rest on the edge of the pot while the roots planted somewhere in the middle. Another way is to let the main stem bend until it is below the level of the media surface. Careful not to break the stem...hahahahahahha
this 2nd method also work for other species whenever u wanna make new plant.
