Alcran Not an expert, but yes if it has started to crack then you have no choice but to collect and then to stratify... why only 13 seeds? I imagine you should have more. I had some ripe seeds of Sarracenia last year, but I didn't bother to stratify, so no germination for that batch at all.

As you live in NY, that means waiting until the start of thaw to plant them... long wait
