This is a succulent belonging to the family Asclepiadaceae, which includes the European milkweed, hoyas, antplants etc..

funkychips, yes it is actually available in Malaysia. Most frequently general plant nurseries stock them in their mixed cacti collecions without even knowing. A good method of identifying a stapeliad (or its cousin, Huernia), is the stems which are 4 or 5-angled (almost square in cross section) and usually lack long sharp spines. The spines are often very short or absent, or modified into little hooks. But since most species are so similar, you won't even know what you're getting, which adds to the fun. Now I'm on the lookout for gigantea/nobilis which can have blooms up to 30cm diameter.. :D
