N. vogelii Help Please
Hi All,
I got a huge N. vogelii about 2 weeks ago,I am hoping that its just in shock from shipping, anyhow I have read that it really doesn't like some H/L conditions and prefers to be a little bit warmer. The problem is that the growth point (tip) is starting to spiral somewhat like it's dehydrated, but it's not nor is it over watered. My days are much warmer and longer so i am baffled as to why it is doing this .I don't think that it is humidity shock. I will get a pic up asap any hope would be greatly appreciated. I really don't wanna have to make cutting's from it to try and save it unless I have no option. http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...hsFire0015.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...hsFire0017.jpg http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...hsFire0018.jpg Thanks Daren |
Re: N. vogelii Help Please
hi, to me it looks dehydrated and most probably overheated. it always happens to the shipments especially to my place as it takes longer journey and mishandling of the packages ie package left under the hot sun or the parcel sitting near to heat source....i would suggest give more humidity to it...it is just my humble suggestion however others in the forum might give you more accurate ways to handle the situation...

Re: N. vogelii Help Please
Kevyn is right. Increase humidity as much as possible and treat it like a cutting. It could also be that teh root system was damaged in transit and the plant is not getting hydrated. Use a clear plastic to cover over it.

Re: N. vogelii Help Please
don't worry, i agree with chan.in China people usually use a Transparent Plastic bags on plant and put the plant to a scattered light place and keep coolness.
if the plant severe dehydration, you can cut away some low leaf to Reduce evaporation of plant. hope it useful for you. good luck! Tommi |
Re: N. vogelii Help Please
Yea it's probably dehydrated....cut off half of the leaves and bag it. Hope your nep survives :)

Re: N. vogelii Help Please
Don't expose it to too much sunlight. Cut of about three quarters of some old leafs, then increase the surrounding humidity. Maybe you could put the plant in a plastic bag, but you'll have to find a big bad since the plant is quite big . Btw, don't over water it because it might cause root rot.

Re: N. vogelii Help Please
Cut 1/2 leaf, bag it with plastic bag, put it in to shade and cool place, to help it root more easy you should potting it in a good draining media. That all.
