Re: Bare root flytrap !
Hello...
Here is what i do when i recieve vft that were sent to me by postage... When vft are sent from other country they suffer great stress while they are in the parcel... no light and sometimes the heat they bare while trevilling around... it could and would kill it if it's not handled with care... What i usually do is after reporting them i keep them under 50% shade and keep the media to minimum moisture level during the first 2 weeks, 'for them to recover from the stress' then use another 2 weeks to slowly add light level and moisture level'for them to acclamatise' Give your vft time to recover and acclamatise, do not directly dump them under hot sun right after you reported it... the first impact was the stress when it was trevelling in the parcel and direct sunlight stright after comming out from the parcel will most cirtainly kill it... --> Previously, some of my VFT growing in spagnum moss. My previous red VFT that I posted in forum long time ago is growing at that media. So, I dont think that is issue. Did he keep in sunny place? Well his place a kind of hot --> We must keep those newly brought CPs that suffer from transport for long time in bright and cooler place. Only give them more sunlight or artificial light slowly. How many days did the plants take to arrive? he didn't tell me --> In my experience, 10days suppose no issue. Not sure they can doing well more then 10days. Did he get a lot of water? he put the pot in water --> Many people said they prefer drier media if compare drosera and sarracenia. They doing well in water tray as well. It is better, if water level is lower. Around 1/4 of yours pot or lower. Just 2cents |
