Good things about this season for CPs - Share your photos too!

During the year end, the sun doesn't shine into my growing area at all. About half of my Neps slow down in growth and some stop producing pitchers. I also have to resort to artificial lighting for my sundews.

However, the higher humidity, lower temperatures and even low light seem to be liked by some species.

D. schizandra

N. northiana (the one on the left is the lastest pitcher at 3.5", the one on the right is older)

N. albomarginata (they never stopped producing pitchers for me year round except after flowering)

From the left: N. rafflesiana 'nivea', N. (clipeata x eymae) x clipeata (below it), N.x 'Lebih' and N. alata

N. hamata (these two pitchers are formed in balcony conditions 25C-30C, however the last week of hot weather in the afternoon already sent the plant into producing a smaller leaf :( )

I doubt you are willing to pay so much...BE's hamata seedling is USD$120.

Fauzi told me hamata is RM 550 for a weeny plant, of course I don't wanna pay......bt I shall wait till the time comes when hamata, jamban and a few others rare neps get cheaper.

Cheers

Cindy, you are getting more and more creative with your picture frames. So colourful and interesting just like you. :)

You're D. schizandra look so contented in it's growing conditions. Sigh... too bad I just can't get them to grow well for me and I've already killed a few.

No matter how your growing condition change, you still have some very nice looking plants. Thanks for sharing.

Hi David,
That is thanks to Picasa 3. I had loads of fun yesterday playing with the collage feature. The D. schizandra is new. The last one I had grew from 3" to 6" and when the heat wave came, it collapsed to nothing. I'll start finding a cool place for them next April when the weather heats up.

cpnut,
Glad you like the pics.

Hamata can be grown in different temperature as long as you can provide it with very high humidity.

A couple more odd photos this season.

N. rafflesiana 'nivea'. Nothing really odd about this species except that everytime I want the chop the plant down or give it up, it produces a decent pitcher which is spotless and true to its name. N. rafflesiana as a species itself is not that suitable for my balcony because it grows too big and the pitchers don't last long. I have never had more than two pitchers on my plants at any one time.

N. paradoxa. Yup, this is an odd thing. It has produced a new plant on its flower stalk!

And as if it didn't want to lose out to the Drosera genus...
P. primuliflora did a similar thing. Except that the plantlet appeared on the flower itself after the petals fell off!

Ken, Cindy lives in an apartment and I think her windows faces similar directions like mine. My plants are also not getting sunlight this time of the year. You're on a landed property where your garden gets sunlight thoughout the year. You're so lucky Ken.

UMMMMMMM David......When it the world was i living in a landed property o.0 I live in a condo too..........Thats why my collection is minature lol...My balcony faces south and receives direct sunlight the whole day which is kinda bad for my neps....But well my other CPs prefer it....
