Well i always throw away the water coming out from my mini bog into the tray and fill it with fresh one....Because ones it comes down from the bottom it stinks and its yellow in colour.

Your S.purpurea looks even more cool with its colour cuz mine is a mix of purple N green.

Well my purpurea is either dead or dormant. How to tell the differences between dead and dormant purpurea.(since it doesn't produce phyllodia)

Dig it up. A dead plant will have a mushy rizome. If its alive the rizome will be firm, like a potato.

Hehehe, alcran, you make it sound like handling potatoes....

Well, I think cleaning the water in the water tray is important. Unless you want mosquitoes chasing after you....plus, when the water has evaporated, or has been used up, there is a high risk of mosquito larvae to die and its decomposition releasing salt and some minerals.
