Re: Kath's Growlist
That's a pretty good list you have there for only three years. A good spread of plant species. How easy is it to source plants in New Zealand?

Re: Kath's Growlist
It is actually very difficulat to source plants in New Zealand. We have almost every 'old' species of carnivorous plant, with the exception of Aldrovanda, which to my knowledge doesn't even EXIST in my country, anywhere, but we have no new species.
You see, we have this 'list' of all plants that are 'supposedly' in the country already. Only the list only has about half of them - it doesn't even have some of our native species! Anyway, we are only allowed to import plants and or seeds that are on the list - so we can't get in any new species, because they weren't in the country when the list was made... Pretty much, Darlingtonia, Nepenthes and Heliamphora are worth heaps. Heliamphora normally sell for 80$ as soon as they get there first adult pitchers, Darlingtonia normally 50$. Nepenthes go for between 15-150$ Oh - and D. Capensis has been 'outlawed' |
