Ali, a number of my ampullaria are still producing normal pitchers while having basal carpets. But the pitchers & leaves are quite far apart compared to before. The pitchers on the main stem are always a lot bigger than those on the basal.

Could I be doing something right?

Amelie,
MAybe you have shady and humid environment.For me the basal pitchers are way bigger than the mother plants pitchers.
