Hello all, I'm Hong, I'm brand new to CP planting , and don't have any seed yet too

Also thanks to David Tan for intro and explanation.

Currently looking for seed to buy or receive
Wanna ask that, can Venus Fly trap be grown in tropical country like Sarawak?

Since a seller from ebay tell me that it need a winter season, so it can't = =
But I see many photos from this web, damn all look so nice
And fly trap looks cool too, very sad if can't grown / . \

Hi, Hong. Welcome to petpitcher!

Venus Flytrap definitely can grow in our country. I grow under 50% shade cloth. 1 part peat and 1 part perlite as medium.

Five little Vfts go to sleep,
they all wake up but two died of shock .
Now the other three only have leaves,
what happen to the traps nobody knows.

Welcome to PP...

piscesilim didnt grow moss at the media.

There is 2 ways to handle VFT dormancy, 1 is put it in fridge and the others is dry dormancy. I think there is few post regarding these at VFT section...

Hi Hong, welcome to PP.
Sure we can grow VFT in the tropic, my VFTs have thrived for many years. Search for handling method in the VFT section in PP. Those info you find in the net mostly not applicable to our climate. Happy growing.

To picesilim: sorry internet prob so cannot see xP.Okay Hong actually you can just buy them in some nursery. If you raise them from seeds they are quite delicate. Mature plants are easier. Oh yeah seeds are hard to find in M'sia..have to buy from overseas...well mine dunno what happen all except two of the baby Vft got burnt, all leaf turn black.Delicate.LoL but you can try, make you more caution when handling plant and not suddenly stamp on themI'm wuite clumsy that's why.Good luck on finding your Vft
