Yellow spots on leaves
Just want to check. I have a few plants having yellow spots on it's leaves. The latest leaf is ok though (all nice green). If I am not mistaken, from the orchid world, this could be fungus. Have you guys face this before? What is the best, non-poison treatment if there is any?

Re: Yellow spots on leaves
Depends. Bright yellow spots that are slightly bumpy could be scale insects. I have had some on my green amps before, but they just disappeared after I cut off the leaves.

Re: Yellow spots on leaves
At first, I thought so too but the spots are not bumpy and there is no leaf sapping critters underneath.
Use to had scales attack at one time but manage to fight it off. It was a bad infestation. Hope it is not coming back, as I don't see any when I turn the leaf around. Whats the best way to deal with these 2 pests? I am trying not to use any fungicide or insecticide if not necessary. (got a baby at home) |

Re: Yellow spots on leaves
Try neem oil. It is effective at relatively low doses and is harmless to humans (the Indian community use it to bathe babies, in fact). It does have a rather weird smell, though, and is more preventive rather than a curative. But you can give it a try. Or try spray organic solutions like garlic...
