David, not sure if you forgot to close this against comments and replies so will just post and do just delete if this is not allowed:

1. Was wondering if there is any way the members can give comments on the entries, for improvement or praise.... or is what I m doing okay already and the right venue?

2. I was going to comment also that it would have been nicer (if it's possible) that the comments of the judges be placed under the pictures of the entries, as it was a bit hard to open two pages and read comments and then see the picture.

My comments on Ping entries, again not sure if this is okay or not, just delete if not allowed, also was not able to join the contest so I might sound a bit "smug" about my comments, but rest assured that I mean these for improvements, and I don't think I could have done better myself anyway.

3. It is too bad that some of the photos are not clear, your plant might have looked great and in great condition, but too bad about the photo.. hope next time those that submitted not so great photos, to please borrow someone else's. But then again I waited to borrow a camera from my brother and I was too late to send my entry

4. I think it is a good idea to take off any labels from the pot, even the name labels, etc. It helps with the photo I think if it's just the plant.

5. There were some plants that look great but had some other plants that are not looking great in the background, it is usually better if the plant you are taking photo of is the only one in the pot, or if with others, that the other plants look great as well... ideally.

There unsolicited friendly improvement suggestions from me cheers everyone and congratulations to the contestants.

Default Re: Member's Poll for Pinguicula Competition

I'll have this thread here for members to give their comments or suggestions on how to improve this competition further for the next quarter.

My answer:

1. Lets see what members would like to do. If members would like to comment or praise the entries, I'll allow them to do it on the entry boards itself after the judges comments.

2. I'll do that in the next competition. I understand the problem.

3. Don't worry. This competition will be carried out on a quarterly basis or once every four months etc. So, if you miss this one, prepare for the next one.

4 + 5. Yes, as the judges have also pointed out in many instances, put effort in the plant and pot presentation.

So far, there is not much comment from judges regarding healthy of plant. I think it is because most of plant are healthy.

From judges comment, I learn that
1. appearance of plants is very important.
2. Clean, nicer pot
3. there is no others sp. at the same pot
