You got it! Its D. regia...though it doesn't look much like a king of anything right now. I sure hope it doesn't need royal treatment to survive long-term heh...

You've got one too? How does it do for you? I hear a lot of horror stories about how its cranky and hates heat...

No. But will have it soon.

I got this one germinated recently. How much heat can it tolerated according to your experience?

Cute! It looks quite like a Drosophyllum seedling at that stage...

As for heat, its hard for me to say, mine only just popped up...although I hope that it coming back instead of just staying dead is a good sign. It takes normal day temps in bright shade at most for me. Your's may be more heat tolerant, being a seedling. Also, if you weren't using chemical treatments to get germination, then the seeds which germinated would probably be those which are more okay with our warm weather...

According to Barry Rice, this plant die rapidly if the temperatures ever exceed 41-43°C.

I have a few seedlings for experiment. I keep them under 50% shade and 70% shade. See which one live longer.

I guess my conditions might be closer to 70% shade...though it does get morning sun. I really doubt that our normal day temps even go up to 41°C except for possible freak weather...

You're really lucky to have a few seedlings. Is it easy to get germination or does it require special treatment?

This is the 4th time I try to germinate Drosophyllum. This time I divided them into 3 groups.

1. Sow directly without treatment
2. Scrape the seeds with sand paper and dip in GA3 solution for 1 day.
3. Scrape the seeds with sand paper and dip in water for 1 day.

Some seeds from group 2 and 3 germinated within 10 days time. Group 1 no germination.
