Waa, it has grew much taller huh? I think you're the only one that has this now. Guard it with your life man! ![]() ![]() Tarence, I have 4 more but it just died ![]() Also I increased the speed of the fan blowing over the light ballast. That might have decreased the humidity in the terrarium as the air also flows into the growing area. It turned brown on the leaves. Remember I mentioned to you before that my filiformis leaves are also turning brown at the tips? Now no more since I reduced the speed of the fan and use RO water again. But was too late to save the madagascarinsis. I love this plant for it's unique growing stem. Also, it is the only sundew species found in Madagascar, where it came from. The best thing is it is a tropical plant. I grew these from seeds. Some pictures of my plants before it went to plant heaven. Here's a side view: ![]() Global Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() member is offline ![]() Joined: Apr 2007 Gender: Male ![]() Posts: 1,523 Location: Bandar Kinrara , Puchong ![]() « Reply #4 on 29 May, 2007, 16:39 »Other than having RO water system in our house, can we also buy it from the petrol stations ? any eye dear ? My problem with the species is that it kept going into "dormancy". And that was even before it starts growing the stem. Fortunately, I managed to sprout leaf cuttings and now there are another two plants. TS, how do you grow your plants? But I found this plant grow very slow in it's initial stage, but once it reaches about 2 to 3 cm height, the growth start to pace up. I thought they are tropical plants and do not go into dormancy. Gee, I did not know that. What triger the dormancy then? Hi Lim, I am always a little doubtful about water that are placed over night, whether the chlorine evaporates overnight. You can try and see. Maybe keep it for a few days. I did that once. Had a huge pail that I fill up with tap water. Keep it there for a few days before using it to water my plants. One thing I notice is that tap water is after a few days the water have a certain smell. Bacteria has started to grow. Also I feel the minerals and other desolve metals will still be in the water. « Last Edit: 8 Aug, 2007, 23:07 by David »Link to Post - Back to Top ![]() Global Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() member is offline ![]() Joined: Aug 2007 Gender: Female ![]() Posts: 412 Location: Singapore ![]() « Reply #12 on 9 Aug, 2007, 1:10 »Heat dormancy, I think. I know some sundews do go dormant in prolonged heat e.g. D. capensis. The madagascarensis plants which died are my first so I am not familiar with them. |
