Re: Can Mirabilis take direct sunlight?
Hi Ken, for most of us in Indonesia, N. mirabilis is one of the easiest, die harder, we always start with this species. Yes, mirabilis loves direct sun, from my experience, low intensity of light won't make mirabilis pitchering. Under the full sun, I get colorful pitcher, also bigger pitcher. the leaves? as long as you don't care about burning spot - you don't have to worry. Because as soon as time running, it will adapt. But, don't let him dry - because N. mirabilis is water maniac compare to other lowlander..
But, as Robert said, moved them to the direct sun step by step.. |

Re: Can Mirabilis take direct sunlight?
very nice pitchers. but i must say, i havent seen any local mirabilis here with such stunning colours as your. most of the plants here in malaysia, even the wild under full sun, dont look as good as yours, from my limited experience. however, a mirabilis var echinostoma i got from fauzi, does look a bit like yours, with red body. interesting....

Re: Can Mirabilis take direct sunlight?
Hi Jonathan
Thanks for the stunning pictures....Seems like there is not much difference but i can see the one in full sun has more red and less green spots...Looks like a elongated N x Coccinea to me lol.. Speaking of mirabilis var enchinotsoma..Mine is just making bigger and bigger leaves...Tendrills just don't grow longer....Well so far i've heard mirabilis var enchinotsoma does not like direct sunlight.. Ken
