primavera: Archive from the old forum
« Thread Started on Jan 31, 2007, 1:56pm »
Name: Min Location: Petaling Jaya/ Sydney Work: Student, Med Very excited that we finally have a Malaysian forum for CPs. Love plants, among other things. Owned my first CP when I was 12, a N. gracilis. Rotted its pitchers with moths and fertilised it to death in the end Been more informed since then, thanks to forums, and have grown nepenthes ampullaria, rafflesiana, alata and albomarginata. As I'm away most of the year, currently only have two 3 year old albomarginata in the shadehouse, a few young ones in a terrarium with an un-id'ed mirabilis suspect, and a bicalcarata in a tissue culture vial In Sydney, I grow a windowsill of Sarracenias, 2 colour variants of VFT and a Drosera spathulata. They are low maintenence, zero fuss plants over there. Aside from CPs, I'm also into orchids, aroids and planted tanks, which is how I found this forum via MAC. A big thanks to Issac! Mosses and Cryptocorynes are my fav, but anything aquatic drives me crazy too. Kudos to the individuals who set up this forum. More awareness and knowledge is the key to conservation. Thanks a lot! |

Cheers. Please post your grow list in the growlist section. Btw, Australia is supposed to have a lot of Drosera and Pinguicula varieties. One of the guy(kenny) that I bought seeds from is living in Oz and he claims that those are native to Australia. Good luck to your studies too! |

Hey, if you wanna take a break from your studies, would be great if you can take some pictures of the cps in nurseries in Australia and post on the forum for us to drool over, haa, haa, haaa... |

I still have another 3 years of study left in Sydney, so I'll definitely try to go around and snap a few photos! Too bad Exotica Plants is in some rural Queensland area, if not, I'll surely be there in a jiff. There are a lot of cps in Australia. I've seen a few droseras in the bushland during my (limited) travels around. Should bring my camera next time. If I remember correctly, Western Australia seems to be the center of diversity. I've recently chatted with a botanist friend who went over in summer to study wildflowers. He said he saw mats and mats of miniature sundews flowering too. Too bad he's only studying the Proteaceae family, and not CPs, or else could've got some seeds from him Anyways, keep up the good work guys. My bed beckons... |
