N. sibuyanensis x hamata
My plants all went into sleep mode since August without growing much and producing no pitchers. Now, with the cooler and more humid weather, they waking up. This hybrid can do well and pitcher continuously if higher humidity is maintained. But at my windowsill, it is drier during the hot months.
July 2008 - this pitcher is still around! Today - lidless pitcher July 2008 - this pitcher started to turn brown and dry up just beginning this week Today - yet another lidless pitcher |

Hi Cindy,
Wah....growing a hybrid between a highlander and an ultrahighlander in lowland conditions hmmm that might explain it.My mixta x fusca recently created its biggest pitcher which is an intermediate but the lid would just stay down and always lumpy looking which will most probslly fall of soon.I didn't damage it BTW Ken |

Re: N. sibuyanensis x hamata
Wow nice pics Cindy but this hybrids has no scary teeth like hamata. As far as i've seen hybrids with this guy has no teeth but flared peristome.
Can you explain why the lid is smaller in those pitchers?? Thanx!

Re: N. sibuyanensis x hamata
Ali,
Neps seem to show maternal dominance which means the mother's characteristics show through more. So for this hybrid, it is likely to resemble sibuyanensis more than hamata. As for those smaller, deformed lids...it is common for Neps to form such pitchers after a period of stress. Most of my intermediate species would produce pitchers with this kind of lid when they start pitchering again.

Re: N. sibuyanensis x hamata
Hi Cindy
My N mixta x fusca recently created one pitcher with a dried lid which happened after weeks of the opening of the pitcher. The pitcher is still fine very healthy and the biggest so far.I suspect theres some problem with the compost because when i water it suddenly a lot of water come down from the bottom. When i checked it there were empty spaces at the side of the pot.Its like the compost constricted and became smaller...anyone else has this problem???
