coming to KL on 14th of May (tomorrow!)
Hey,
I am Mathias from Germany. I have stayed in Borneo for the last 3 month and I have a stopover for one day in KL on my way back to home. So I just wanted to ask if there is somebody with a little bit of time tomorrow to meet up with? I am deeply infected with.. not swine flue but the NEP Virus and like to see your collection and have some chat! Please email to mscharmann[at]arcor.de or answer in this threat! Thank you and kind regards, Mathias |

Re: coming to KL on 14th of May (tomorrow!)
Hi there Mathias! I will be free in the evening after work tomorrow if you are still around tomorrow night. It would be great to meet up with you. But my Nepenthes collection is not with me in KL so you won't have Neps to see. In case you still want to meet up anyway or if no one else is free to meet up with you, let me know.

Re: coming to KL on 14th of May (tomorrow!)
KC,
Mathias was in Borneo for 3 months studying the symbiotic relationship between N. bicalcarata and a species of ants that live in the hollow tendrils of that species. As most of you know N. bicalcarata is the only species of Nepenthes that is also an ant plant. The ants would live in the tendrils protecting the plant while the plants provide a home to the ants. The ants would enter into the pitcher through the hollow of the tendril and grab insects that has fallen prey in the pitcher. These species of ants are able to swim in the pitcher fluid. Hope he would be able to share with us here a little about the research he has done on this.

My Bical has a lot of ants on it. Like more than 20. Is this something to do with it being an ant plant.
