Hi guys... Just got 2 new neps from Eric's nursery. 1 Nep globosa'viking' and a lowland hybrid. ID of the hybrid will be greatly appreciated, as well as culture tips for both. Thanks.

That looks like thorelli but you can ask Eric.He should no the plant.
Viking will get blood red in full sun but the leaves will burn if exposed to full sun so you have to shade the leaves and expose the pitchers to sunlight. But let's see other members comment bout this. Hopo this helps.!

Hi paphioboy,
Nice viking you got there, hope it'll grow well for you. I also got the 2nd unknown plant from Eric (he also dunno abt the ID), I still can't figure out what it is... ![]() Hi Ali, I think if you expose the viking pitcher in full sun, the red coloration will get bleach after a while.... from my own experience, others are welcome to give feedback ![]() |

Hi
Grats on the new plant..The look nice and healthy.. And Ali umm normally for most neps in most people's experience pitchers attain more colour when exposed to more light but for a viking pitchers will get redder if you shade them.. Ken

I saw in a Taiwanese forum recently about a member called a nep "hong teng long" (literally means red lantern in English) the name in English was N. xRebecca Soper, I tried google in the net, N. xRebecca Soper looked quite similar to what we have. Maybe you guys should also check on the web and see. If this is a xRebecca Soper, then it should be a N. gracillima x ventricosa. If Eric's source is from Taiwan, then it should be N. xrebecca soper. |

Hi TS,
Thanks for your input, will definately take a closer look. If it's really "red lantern", even better.... ![]() |
