Lots of them. Must have been like 100+ or something. From Hawaii, arrived today. He says they are N. Splendiana x Maxima -OR- N. Splendiana x Rokko -OR- N. Splendiana x (spectabilis x veitchii) -OR- a mixture of different seeds which is quite probable. Well I put it in a seed tray with a plastic cover for humidity. Pic : This image is reduced by 13%, click it to view full size. The left 2 rows are chopped dried sphagnum, the middle row is washed cocopeat/perlite, the 2 right rows are peatmoss/perlite. He says germination rate has only been 5% in the past, but with this many seeds that's still ok haha. « Last Edit: Mar 28, 2007, 11:20pm by zakhren »Link to Post - Back to Top 219.94.117.42 David Administrator member is online Joined: Dec 2006 Gender: Male Posts: 2,326 Location: Kuala Lumpur Re: JK's free seeds « Reply #1 on Mar 29, 2007, 9:10am » Neat and nice, that's how I like my arrangements to be too. It will be interesting to find out which media will have a higher rate of seed germination. Link to Post - Back to Top LoggedMy Wantlist zakhren Senior Member member is offline I'm back! Humidity is high in that platsic tray. There are like 20-30 seeds in each pot. If 5% is the germination rate I have the possibility of getting 15 plants haha. All on cocopeat. I guess cocopeaterlite really is the better medium for germination. Link to Post - Back to Top 219.95.131.234 zakhren Senior Member member is offline I'm back! This time on the peat moss~ Though one of the ones germinating on the cocopeat didn't seem to form properly so I'm considering it dead unless it recovers. So I'm still gonna say 3 germinations so far. Link to Post - Back to Top 219.95.43.62 zakhren Senior Member member is offline I'm back! Seems like germination happens faster on cocopeat, but doesn't seem to effect the final number of germinations. Well that's what I can tell so far. Link to Post - Back to Top 219.95.134.14 |
