How would these 2 do

Guys...Veitchii x platychilla or veitchii pink???? I see them on Fauzi's list...Probally start saving money by now to get 1 of them...So which do you guys think does better in LL conditions??? Less picky to humidity....Sunlight etc etc...Both seem to do fine in intermediate/highland conditions but how about lowland..

The veitchii x platychilla should be from MT...How bout veitchii pink??

Both from MT... all I can say is veitchii x platychilla grow slower compared to veitchii pink in L/L condition.

Wow really????? I thought that the hybrid vigor would have made this hybrid speed up compared to a pure veitchii...Any inputs anyone??? Which is pickier on humdity etc etc..Wanna know which can grow and pitcher better in LL conditions

@Ken: both can grow in lowland condition, veitchii pink is easier though, the other one veitchii x platychilla like Rob said very slow grower, but still making pitcher at my place
veitchii like to have dry period on media in between watering and most neps as far as I know prefer high humidity.

It doesn't mean a hybrid will be a "super" plant even with hybrid vigor.... For this case, since we're growing the N. veitchii x platychilla in L/L condition (not the most ideal growing condition) plus with N. platychilla (H/L species) in it, it's only natural it'll be growing slowly but still manage to pitcher because of N. veitchii in it.

Wow, I too learned from this, I too was under the impression that the hybrid will probably do well. I have a Veitchii Pink myself, quite slow grower and small pitcher though the plant is big already, around 4 to 5 inches leaves already, pitchers are quite small, maybe 2 inches max. Also didn't know they like dry spells, however I did notice that after I took the pot out of the water tray, the plant started to pitcher, but then we were going into our rainy season and thought that it was just happy with the humidity being high.

Thanks for the correction Ali, I was also under the assumption the N. vogelii to be intermediate nep but it's a challenge for me to grow it succesfully in L/L condition.

Most veitchiis are epiphyte neps except those intermediate H/L terrestrial growing form. So treat them like you're growing epiphytic plants like orchid, ie. pay emphasis in very well drain and loose media, avoid water tray method and try to provide high humidity growing environment.

I found both MT N. veitchii "pink" and N. veitchii x hurrelliana (N. x lebih) to be the same.... Anybody else observed the same thing?
