this is the biggest raff i have...almost 8"...why are the underneath of our nep lids also beautifully designed ? is it to bedazzle the insects ?

yeah, heheh. the plant itself is suprisingly small in comparison to the pitcher. i guess raffs would need to rest their pitcher on the ground rite ? coz i can`t imagine a small thin leaf ( my nep`s ) supporting a 8" pitcher.

Great lookin' Raff tarence! Yep, that plant better have some really good roots if it's going to dangle those kind of pitchers over the edge of a cliff! That lid, with the light filtering through it must be like a vaulted cathedral ceiling for the bugs that cruise in - probably so disorienting they just give up!

David - you guys are killing me with this micro-vision tonight! I just bought a small but quite high-powered magnifying glass and have been loving my "journey to the bottom of the sphagnum" to check on developing nep embryos! Somehow, I think I see a dissecting microscope in my not to distant future! Guess as my vision deteriorates, I compensate with technology... hey, beats never seeing it!
