Nurseries in Australia

A friend asked me to find out whether Melbourne/Perth or Brisbane has any CP nurseries and which one of these places has more nurseries.

Would appreciate any advise on this. Thanks

Hi David,

Melbourne has a couple of nurseries that sell carnivorous plants. Collectors Corner, part of the Gardenworld compex in Braeside (in Melbournes south east) has a variety of CP's. You wont find a lot of exotic plants but they generally stock a variety of VFT's, some bsic Drosera's (capensis, filiformis, spathulata and a few others), Sarra's (mainly hybrids but a few species) and some Nepenthes (mostly unnamed, maxima, alata and ventricosa). They also have a few Cephalotus and Brocchinia plants and a few other things from time to time. They are not the cheapest gowing around but provide a good source.

If anyone is in the area next weekend (the 29th and 30th), the Victorian Carnivorous Plant Society is holding their annual show there. There will be plenty of plants available at this as members bring many plants along for sale. You can get some great plants at even better prices (last year I got a flask of heliamphora nutans TC for $15. It had about 10 plants in it).

The better option is Triffid Park. You need to make an appointment but you can usually do this on short notice. They have everything listed on their website and often a few others as well. This is worthwhile just to check out their new settup. It is a bit further out but really is worth the drive.

I haven't heard of any nurseries in Brisbane but thier are several Nepenthes nurseries further north in Queensland. They are a long way from Brisbane though.

I haven't visited perth but I am sure there aresome nurseries there. Phil Mann and Allen Lowrie are WA based and I think near Perth but I don't know if they do door slaes or just internet.
