Welcome Aboard Ch'ien Lee: Archive from the old forum
Started By: kltower
« Thread Started on Jan 24, 2007, 11:42pm » Ch'ien Lee, On behalf of the petpitcher members I welcome you aboard. Hopefully with your contributions we can make more Malaysians take up growing carnivorous plants as a hobby and at the same time be more aware of our rich heritage in flora and fauna. How about giving this new forum a coup? Can you elaborate on the new species N. jamban besides the 4 photos that appeared in other forums. Choong PS: For those who are not aware of Ch'ien Lee fame, Ch'ien Lee is an intrepid explorer cum biologist and photographer. Check out his website at: http://www.wildborneo.com.my/ |

Congrats to David on the development of this forum. I have just been notified that the publication of N. jamban and N. lungulata was released in the latest Blumea issue (December 06), but I haven't even received my copy yet. For those who are able to get their hands on this issue they will find a more detailed discussion about these new species, plus some excellent illustrations by Joseph Pao, of Sarawak Forestry. I'm sorry to say, but as N. jamban is a high altitude species, it will probably not adapt well to cultivation in Malaysia, except for those of you who live in Cameron Highlands (or similar). It is a spectacular plant though, and like other Nepenthes difficult to do justice by photographs alone. Best regards, Ch'ien |

Thanks Ch'ien Lee, for the compliments on the development of the forum. However, the success of this forum in attracting other Malaysians into the wonderful world of CPs depends on the members and their support. So, just want to say thank you to all the members of PetPitcher, and especially to the 3 pioneer members. We're still small but I think we are slowly growing. |
