Hey pissionkorps. I also got a mirabilis var echinostoma. Can't wait for it to produce mature picthers for me. I wonder how wide the peristome will be.

NICE! I'm trading for a Brunei Red in the next month or so. Since we obviously have the same clone, let's have a little echinostoma competition

ok, ok, Can have a friendly competition. Any prize?

Lucky you, getting a brunei red next month. I was so tempted to get that too but no budget at the moment. Or else have to live on fresh air and sunshine. Or worst, have to live outside the house... (being kicked out by the "Minister of Home Affairs")

Hahah....well I'm trading for it....might take a few months...depends on when the plant I'm going to trade roots.

I have no "Minister of Home Affairs" so I can do what I want (for now lol).

Hmmmm....I guess the comp will go for a few months or a year or so? Let's set the prize at some kind of nep seeds

David,
I don't understand why you have a grow chamber? Your climate should be perfection for growing neps outside.

Well since there are international borders to consider, I don't see what else it could be? Should be a good comp anyway

Michael,

I live in an apartment in Kuala Lumpur. As it is, Kuala Lumpur air is quite dry because it's a city. What more I live in an apartment on the 13th floor.

Only one side of my living hall window gets the evening sun for a couple of hours a day. But I have problem growing neps here as the sun shift. For 6 months there will be sun and another 6 months no sun. My neps were happy for a couple of years by the window until recently. In the past 1 year or so it just has been bad. It keeps raining in the afternoon when the sun is suppose to shine in. Added to that occasionally we get bad haze from forest burning from our neightbouring country that blocks out the sun completely.

So I have no choice but to grow my CPs under artificial conditions. I have recently shifted alot of my neps back to my parents place in a small town up north in Taiping. They have a huge garden and the environement is perfect. The nights are cooler and humidity level during the day is also higher.

The neps there are doing great but this means I cannot see my neps as often as I want to and sometimes if my parents travel or forget to water them, they dry out.

Hmm, worried I might not have seeds for you at that time if you win... which is quite probable (that you win)... haa, haaa. Maybe I shall owe you until I get seeds.

Soon we will all be flowering ampullarias and making lots of seeds. From what I have witnessed about their spike, it appears that ampullarias must be a prolific provider for seeds. With that said, it won't be long before we see speckled, red and newer colored forms of ampullarias popping right out of a bed of seed-original plants, and like in nature, no two alike.
