I don't know about other members but I just have to say this... I think your statement above is not appropriate as Koas was trying to HELP you by giving SOUND ADVISE to you. If you are referring to a statement by someone to you in the future, please refer to his name and not to say things like "to tell people...". What people are you talking about! I think this is rude.

Okay! I just made a longish reply about the shell then realized that Ken already changed the shell to a rock so no more debate there, I think that is a safer and in fact more aethetically nearer to a real bog as I doubt if you can see shells like these in bog ponds.

David, I am not too sure if Ken meant it that way or not. But for me I hope what he meant was this:

"One more thing just to tell people that are making stuff like this .....Do not put shells in it....Which i already replaced with another rock..."

I think he meant making stuff like a Bog or a Mini Bog garden.... so he did not mean that members are making stuff up like calcium carbonate, etc.

I also am not too sure if it is a big thing or not (the calcium carbonate thing), but as mentioned above I think it really doesn't give a bog look if there is a shell anyway

I realized I just butted in on something that I am not too personally involved in, so I'll shut up now and hope Ken can confirm/clarify what he meant about the sentence.

I think ken meant people who are building minibogs too should not put shells as it may harm CPs.

Dear everyone,

Forgive kenneth if you can. He is still young and everyone makes mistakes once in a while. Futhermore, I think he means that people who wish to make a minibog should not use shells.

Kenneth, do watch out what you are writting in the future, people may misunderstand and blame you. So do watch out, I mean no offense.

I know this is rather personal and a little touchy subject that I should not involve myself in, but I do not wih our forum to have a bad image. Whats more, there are younger people than ken and it will not be a good example.

So lets just forget about this situation and return back to our CP madness?

I don't think I will be starting a minibog, today I made a HUGE mistake, I soaked sphagnum in water for two and a half day and it stinks a lot....!!!! hate it! Fauzi knows, don't tell anyone, Fauzi why I soaked sphagnum moss soo longgg....hehehe.

Have a nice day, everyone.

Cheers

I would be careful with any limestone type rock, same reason CaCO3. I use quartz type rocks such as jasper. rock crystal or any inert rock such as granite and basalts.

Hi Ken. Thanks for your explaination. Appreciate it.

By the way, just a tip for you if you want to travel outstation for holidays. Just in case you want to try it out. This is what I do and it works well for me. I would shift them to a place with no direct sunlight (just bright light) and place them in pails/ or on water saucer. Pour about 2 inches or more of water into the pail or water tray.

I can be gone for 1-2 weeks and the plants will be fine when I get back.
