Default No one Gonna Stop Me Mate!

These are my sarracenias collection basking in the sun, taken last month.

Since then, this sarracenia hybrid have given me a 2 feet tall pitcher (Taken last night).

And when you have made up your mind to go up, there is no stopping.

Hope you have enjoyed.

OMG... simply droolicious... I love sarras but hate the fact that they go dormant at almost any time, especially when I'm not around.. So guess I'll stick to what I have..

Nice Sarra's Choong. They look very healthy. Have you had a fluctuating water level in the Sarra that has the bent picture? That is usually a sign of this.

Yowsah! Those Sarrs look joyful. May I ask what happens to them during winter under your tropical conditions, when they go dormant in their native temperate habitat. Do they keep on happily growing, or does growth slow down and some of the pitchers turn brown?

Hi John,

My sarracenia does not die back completely, but like you said, they slow down & some of the pitchers dried off (more than usual). I also see some phylloda-like pitchers, but they do have openings at the mouth of the pitchers. Semi-dormancy? But all through this period, they are flowering non-stop, so there's a possiblity that all this are not dormancy, instead it's just exhaustion from flowering.

Finally, last week looks like they are making a comeback My rubra has it's tallest pitcher, will try to measure! Btw, everyone says that sarracenia flowers are always taller than the pitchers, my plants behave otherwise, any explaination?

Not all times. It is fine if the flowers are shorter. For instance, minor always makes shorter flower stalks.

Strath76, The first bend is permanent, forced by either wind or watering. While the upward bend is natural.

JK, Since, we don't have winter over here, sarracenias can grow for few years vigorously and then gradually go into dormancy. They look like they are dying. Allow a rest they will grow back.
