How big is your Albomarginata pitcher in lowland?
« Thread Started on Sept 3, 2007, 4:56pm » Dear members,

Just throwing out a question to see the sizes of albomarginata out there in the lowland condition.

Have you seen something close to this size in lowland?

This image is reduced by 7%, click it to view full size.

Mine has just pitchered after a long wait and it's 3/4 of my palm size in length. This is grown on my balcony.

I noticed the albo sold in nurseries does not usually grow bigger than 2" pitchers. I'm suspecting that the lowland adaptability of some variant is why mine is still throwing out big pitchers. I might be wrong because my narrow view of what is out there. Help me understand this.

Thanks.

Rgds,
Isaac

How long are the leaves on your plant?

6 inches? It hiding from me until I was doing some clearing of old leaves.

Actually I stumbled across this when I talked to Fauzi at the Floria event. The plants at the nurseries looks big too but rarely exceeds 2-3".

Cindy, you have a few plants of albo too right? what is the biggest size of albo pitcher that you had?

Rgds,
Isaac

Lower pitcher largest at 3.5" with 7" leaf. Upper pitchers at 5" with 5" leaves. Excluding lids.

Btw, your pitcher is 6" with or without the lid? How long are the leaves?

Went back and check, the new pitcher is about 4"+ without lid(still growing) and it's the red maroon form. In the wild, I observed that the biggest I've seen is about 6" or slightly more.

The leaves are about 7" already but does not vine yet.

Hey....I find this thread interesting although its an almosy ancient thread...So far mine is far smaller than the ones mentioned in this thread.....Mine is about 9" from in diameter leaves around 4.5" , stem around 1.3" tall (not much of a climber) And as for pitchers so far its constant at 2.3" but colouration has increased..I have repotted it from almost a eintire media of florafoam to a mix of most LFS and adding perlite and just a little florafoam in it..Hoping the next few pitchers will increase in size..And as for the ones i've seen in nurseries i've not seen many but if i recall last time i saw a black albo in Hee Nusery long timg back and they were quite big probally like 6-7" thats if i remembered correctly but i guess im most probally wrong..
