Something Wrong with my Venus?

Hi i'm kinda curious about my venus flytrap... cos i fed it that day and the trap closed tightly... well seems like abit too tight.. till all the tiny leaves are bending outward ... is it bad for the plant? i still can see the ant that s inside the trap.. the trap seems very tight... is it bad?

VFT- it's normal. All of mine do that. I think it is their way of maximising contact with the food while squeezing the juices out. Think other members can confirm this.

usually the trap itself will be air-tight when the vft has caught something. it prefers flies by the way. ants aren`t really that nutritious.

I agree with the others, in fact it is a good thing, it means that the VFT is sucking up all the "juices" Heck even if the trap dies (that is normal too) it's not a problem, just cut of the trap if it turns black, the plant won't feel a thing.

Hey didn't realize that flies are better, my VFTs have been munching on big ants, maybe I should give them a bit of fly from time to time

Welcome to the forum.
You mean the teeth are bending outward? That's normal, don't have to worry too much. The trap sealed tight as long as the food inside is not fully digested.
I don't feed my VFTs, they'll lure and catch whatever insect that landed in the trap by themself, not necessary to feed manually. VFTs won't die without food (insect) for a long period of time anyway.

My VFT does that too. I don't feed them too. They catch prey on their own. Recently they caught a baby lipas( cannot type the word in english) or cricket.

Yup thats right!

You should see um when there squeezing tight on 2 bugs caught at the same time. And mine roll the teeth outward as well, but i do have a few VFTs that dont do that but do squeez tightly. Im another person that dont feed my VFTs manualy due to they catch all there food on there on and each day i check each diffrent VFT out i notice there getting plenty to eat as almost each VFT has atleast 2 or more traps with bugs in them closed tightly.

Most of my VFT close like that too. but no problem. Mine as TS said they can lure some insect themselve. Previously i feed them with meal worm some of the trap turn black so i don;t dare to feed with meal worm.

oh lots of thx for replying to my question i'm posting my plant.. is it ok? as in healthy?.i'm trying my best to provide it all it needs.. i'm curious.. wads the long gass lookin strands .. on the left hand side of the picture.. are they normal to be growing together with my cp?
