Germination of N. ampullaria (dark red spots) seed
« Thread Started on May 1, 2007, 4:15pm » Hieeeee.... A few of the seeds I got from TS has germinated. Small tiny leaves are starting to grow out of the seeds. This is fast, only about 1 week plus.

How about the rest of you?

« Reply #6 on May 3, 2007, 1:25pm » Its better to chop sphagnum moss before using them for germinating seeds. Long moss fibers tend to make trouble when you move seedlings to individual pots, because when you pick a seedling up together with its surrounding moss, the moss fiber will bother the roots of other seedlings too. Thats somewhat irritating for me

Once the seeds germinate they hate direct sunlight <= this is problem
It should be bright shade instead of deep shade.

Sure Rajah, will let you know when I have some more.

I think those fat (swollen) seeds you guys mentioned should germinate in a few days time. Wish you guys luck.

What Robert said is true, it's a joy looking at the plant growing from seeds to maturity, and satisfaction too.

« Reply #19 on Jun 20, 2007, 10:22am » From the seeds given by TS, I have a lot of seedlings of ampullaria dark red spots. Most are still so tiny but some already pitchering!

I tried 2 methods, one outdoor in balcony, one indoor inside my high humidity tank, the indoor tank a lot of successful germination. Outdoor germination is slower because of the low humidity. These nep seeds likes himidity.

How is the growth of your baby amps from this batch of seeds?
