Default Couple of Questions..

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of questions for my VFT.

The 1st one is probally said in another thread already but im not sure and if it is my bad for not reading before i post a new thread.Ok here goes do VFTs always need a trap underneath they're pots???If i keep it very moist at most of the times do i still need the trap underneath it??I'm currently using a decorative pot over my VFT pot as a tray.No sunlight reaches the water so it hardly evaporates..the problem is with mosquito larvae and algae growth when i have a tray underneath them its hard for things like this not to appear. My mom don't really like the water on the tray because she's afraid mosquitos will breed there. So do VFTs need the tray???

Secondly,I have a green VFT before this because i don't get direct sunlight until a wekk back.So now i put my VFT where it gets good amount of direct sunlight from around 10.00a.m. till im not sure when the sun doesn't shine that brightly which is around 3-4p.m.So how long does it take for my VFT to get nice red traps like most of you guys have??

Ken

Kenneth,

Try reading this Thread https://forum.petpitcher.net/showthread.php?t=952

Try changing the water every two days to convince you mother that there won't be larvae. Yes, need to put the vft in water tray (not trap).

You living in apartment? Try to sun the plant in the balcony for at least 3 hours a day. If in house, better still, find a spot in the garden with sun and leave it there when you go to school and take it back in in the evening to admire. Best if just leave in the open until you need to examine it.
