Default Where to get

Hi heliamphora experts...Just asking cause after looking up some pics realised that they have very nice looking pitchers when they mature which i know can take forever...But anyways i was thinking of getting a heliamphora but i don't know where and averagely how much....I was thinking of putting it in my chiplak highland terrarium...Any species will do best if its cheap...

Hi Ken,

I know a guy in Melbourne who grows them through TC and is able to post overseas. A flask is about $40 Australian and it contains at least 10 plants. He has a website that I have included here but he doesn't update it very often so if you are interested you will need to email him. Cheers.

The other cost you need to know. This is what Andre Cleghorn replied to my query:

Quote:
The shipping cost by Australia Post Express Messenger Service will be AU$48.50 This is the minimum cost for a 1 kg parcel which will hold at least 6 flasks. The only additional cost is the Australian Quarantine Service charge for a phytosanitary certificate inspection which is currently $104.00
So you definitely need to buy as a group to share the high cost.

Also the tc plants you are getting are very small. About 2 in tall at best. It takes 3-4 years before they produce adult pitchers.

It is better to pay A$20-$30 for plants from Exotica Plants or Triffid Park OR US$20-20 from BE. Their plants are bigger.

If there's a group purchase from Triffid Park, I'm going to buy a big cobra.

Choong, I just want to clarify with you... My understadning is that we do not need phytosanitary certificates if we are bringing tissue culture flask of plants into Malaysia as the plants and agar in the flask are sterile.

If this is so, each plant will only cost AU$0.80 for 60 plants (6 flask).
