Unhappy Stupid Aphids........

My VFT is under attack from aphids. Not badly. Just that lately, I have been looking for reasons why my VFT has been growing smaller traps and deformed ones. Today I found out that there was some aphids!!!

I will post pictures later. Right now, I am considering a few options. One, leave it be. Two, send my flytrap into dormancy. Three, uproot the whole plant and soak it in water. i do not have any insecticide. Help!

Cheers

Here are the pictures......

The whole plant. As you can see, the traps are weeny!

A bad trap, sorry, it is blear.

Worst trap

Everytime my flytrap produces new traps, the traps are only 2 mm wide, then the teeth starts forming. Over time, the traps straighten it self from being deformed. It is really annoying!

Cheers

Ladybugs are an option if you can get some.

Not if you get enough to close all the traps. The survivors can eat the aphids.

Hey edward, can't see any aphids in the photos though.

Oh you mentioned you wanted to drown the aphids in water. Hey you know VFTs can take being submerged for a long time in water, if you like just put the whole pot in water so that the whole plant is underwater, I think that leaving it in for 24hours won't be harmful.

Lastly, I have a VFT that has this similar growth of the traps, I don't really find it that big a deal myself, unless you know that your VFT should be producing giant traps. Good luck with your aphid problem.

okay. based on a book ive read, theres a remedy for this

using a bright yellow perspex or yellow plastic piece, smear vaseline/petroleum jelly on it, and hang or place it near affected areas.

apparently this works, and the results are awesome.

i have yet to try this on my own as ive not yet been attacked been aphids.. my plants, i mean...

So sorry about your VFT, it doesn't look good, like someone that has smaller head than his shoulder.Reminds me of Mr Midnight.
And Malowie THAT will be funny if someone is being attacked by aphids.
What about soaking the plant in hot water? Will it burn the plant?

Oh please don't soak in hot water! That will Blanch the plant and almost surely kill it! I'd rather spray insecticide than use hot water. But dipping the whole plant in cold rain water for a few hours should help kill those aphids.

One thing though I am not sure if the problems with the trap size is caused by Aphids, I have a feeling that it might not be related.

The aphids are the size of a pinhead lah......obviously cannot see.

I sprayed my VFT with sheildtox and then soaked it for 5 minutes, and then repotted it in a new media. Will it work??

Cheers
