Default My new highland setup

Hi everyone.

After a few years of growing lowlands, and a few victims from unappropriated growing conditions(maybe more than a few ),

I decided to build a highland setup and to begin my highland adventure!

I build it from Styrofoam boards and glass, and used the most condensed styro' boards (F30 & 5 CM thick).

Dimensions of terra' length=140cm depth = 90 cm height=100 cm.

Light system - 400watts MH light set up.

Cooling system: strong centrifugal air pump connected to outer refrigerator

circulating air in an out from the terrarium, all of them are connected to temp' controller.

Enjoy my pictures i attached them in the order of building.
Feel free to comment or give some tips.
Liraz .

i wonder 250w should be enough for your setup, 400w might "cook" your plants

Hi , i had some thoughts about 250 or 400 watts.
i decided to take the 400 . it sure produce a lot of extra heat.

but i tried to take some preventing steps to avoid the extra heating:
  1. the air is coming from the freezing shelf in the refrigerator.
  2. 3 small vent's on the bulb
  3. the height of the bulb is modularise, i can lift it.
but for now it is o.k plants are growing good . temp at day time 23-25C and at night it is 15 C.
i am a bit afraid from the hot summer in Israel! so in the worst case i can use the 400 watts ignition system to light 250 Wat bulb.
Does anyone have experience with 400 bulb, or 250 watts?

Thanks for the compliments and for the tips!, i won't try 250w bulb with this system.
Now the temp' is 15-17 C at night and day time it is not reaching above 25C
I guess here in Israel it is not a real winter outside 6-7 C at night and 22-28 C day time.
maybe in the Israeli summer time i will have more difficulty to steady the lower temp' with the lights on. it can reach outside to 40C .

if it's 40C outside what will be the temp inside the house, it's supposed to be lower and cooler?
