I think dried ones are the ones sold commercially, winterkid. I've never heard of live sphagnum moss in nurseries and home centers. I'm not sure in Cameron Highlands.

But, if your area has Ace Hardware, myherb, then you can purchase their sphagnum moss from there. Sphagnum moss is rarely sold in bulk, you get them in packets of about 5 litres for RM29-30. You can buy a few packets if you want a lot.

Hope this helps.

I have brought 2packs of the 240litre of the nz sphagnum moss from ace before. Would like to try the ones from Chile as it is much cheaper.

I heard it is better than the China ones. Like the next best sphagnum to the nz ones?? They are being sold in bulk by some wholesaler some where in Cameron Highlands????? I need them for very young platys and later transfer them to coconut husk chips.

and THANKS ppl for all the info.

suggest you try orchid nurseries in Perak. i get my 5kg LFS from Chile ( compacted ) for rm120 from a orchid nursery in KL. Fauzi uses the same stuff too but from a diff source i think. Not as clean as NZ LFS but pretty acceptable. Much better than China stuff as this is "springy" & lasts quite long in usage.
