I know it will use up some of the flytraps energy. BUT I'm scared that the plant will die because it is too weak.

If the flower stalk is more than 8 cm (about 3 inches) long, you might as well let your plant finish flowering. The most you can do is keep you plant environment stable to reduce the stress.

Of course don't forget to try get some seeds from those flowers.
This site has some tips on getting those flowers to produce seeds.

plantlover,

Cut the flower stalks off and use them to get new plants.

wow! i myself did not know that VFTs can be reproduced from flower cuttings..

after planting the cuttings, is it advisable to keep it in a terrarium or would a shady area do?

just wondering whether i should allow my VFT to flower now.. haha

Aaron, whether you decide to cut off the flower stalks or not you should make sure that the soil isn't too wet. If the plant was weakened by making the flower stalks, the rhizome will be more likely to rot.

Do you know if the nursery owner had any flytraps?

When we say stick the flower stalk in potting mix, we do mean lay them down horizontally not vertically, I cover with a bit of dried sphagnum moss at one end and leave alone, just making sure they are moist. I guess putting cling wrap over the pot would help too.
