Nepenthes from seeds
« Thread Started on May 25, 2008, 10:23pm »
Hello !

Growing Nepenthes from seeds has been a very rewarding experience for me lately. Here are some of my seed grown specimens:

- Nepenthes sanguinea. I had almost waited 4 months before germination occurs:

- Nepenthes ampullaria, a speckled form from Sumatra:

- Nepenthes belli:

- Nepenthes beccariana:

- A small Nepenthes bokor family (15-20 cm):

- Nepenthes boschiana. One of the specimens develops red leaves in shade or under intense light. Very interesting.

This is my biggest boschiana:

Friendly,

François.

Hey François, love those seedling pics! Just a note; David sent me some N. sanguinea seed and just for the heck of it I planted them out even though I'm in Thailand at sea level (about 1/4 mile from the ocean) and our temps are hot year round. The first seed sprouted in 24 days and now at 45 days I've had another big flush of germination. It's looking like around 70% germination right now. However the N. sanguinea x ramispina have only just started to germinate at 47 days and at that only about 5-10 seeds so far. The N. macfarlanei are even slower but about the same number of seedlings as N. sanguinea x ramispina have popped.
Your N. boschiana look great with that red line down the center of the leaf! What is the almost black pitcher on the right in the second boschiana photo?
Shawn

Thanks guys !

Shawn, the black pitcher belongs to a specimen of N. carunculata var. robusta.
