New & already needing URGENT help for my D. burmanii
Hi, I'm Jessica from Ampang Jaya, Malaysia.
I got 1 from the Calvary Carnival about a month ago and it was growing beautifully almost a new leaf everyday and even had flowers (although I never got to see any of them when they open 1 by 1). Problem was I was out of town for 3 days and instead of leaving it outside on my window ledge (where I normally put it during the day), I put it indoors (place where I thought it would get the most sunlight) and water. When I got back, it looks like it's rotting... bottom leaves reddish. There's been no dew and I think the leaves have stopped growing. It doesn't look like it's going to make it with the rotting spreading... Anything at all I can do? Any one can help? I've manged to take some photos last night... ah, problem loading... I've got it in my album... if you can take a look there, otherwise, I need to figure out the loading.. |

Dear Jessie,
Your Burmanii is dying for sure. After flowering, it is programmed genetically to die. So don't be sad. Use the seeds you got from the flowers to sow for next crop. If you didn't keep any or have died, pm me. For now, just put the plant in a water tray. Should last for three days. Have good trip.

mine have flowered countless of times and live. But you will also observe the plant shrinking in size.

Jess,
I moved your message here from the introduction section as I think this thread should go under the Drosera boad. I've also merge the other new thread you created with this thread. Sorry, didn't tell you.

Re: New & already in need of URGENT Help for my D. Burmanii
Welcome Jessica. Another new member.
Normally, when a burmanii flowers. They are doom to die. But if you take good care of it and feed it with tons of insects, it may survive.

Hi Aaron,
You mean it wasn't the over watering + lack of sunlight for 3 days? I thought that was it coz it was doing very well before and my place seems to be blessed with plenty of insects for it. Oh dear... means I should have cut the stalk... |

Re: New & already in need of URGENT Help for my D. Burmanii
Burmanii are annuals. They germinate, grow, flowers, then dies. So if you let it flower it will automatically die. But sometimes if you feed it tons of food, bright light, pure water, high humidity etc. it will survive for another year.
