N. sanguinea seed germination question
« Thread Started on May 7, 2008, 5:56pm »
I just noticed that the N. sanguinea seeds germinated unlike any Nep seeds I've experienced in the past. The plantlet emerges roots first and then the leaves finally pop out of the husk afterwards. Is this something that happens with highlanders or just sanguinea? I've never tried to germinate highlanders before and everything lowland has always come out leaves first with the husk falling away as the roots push out a week or three later.

Well then, can you tell me 'what' other species germinate like this?
Thanks

Most other HLs I think. There was a thread about it on the ICPS forum not too long ago.

I am never notice about that. Because of N.sanguinea is my first nepenthes which i can germinated from seed. The root is quite long if compare to other i am having.

Here are 2 small N.sanguinea which i am keeping is office now. Growing them under 2 x 9W PL-S tube for 10 hours per day.

Yes I notice it too. My sanguinea seeds from David pop out roots about two days ago. Still no Leaves but long roots. And how come they grow roots so so fast. About four days after planted or is it just my seeds. Maybe my seeds are more seedy??
