Hello!
Hi David!
Hi all! I have only one pitcher plant i.e. Sarracenia. I bought it from Cameron Highlands in June. It has been growing well. But today I found lots of black ants at the hood Are the ants going pose any danger to the plant? They seems like attacking the plant (see attached pictures). I hope someone could advise me on this. Re: Hello!
Thanks caseyhoo
I think the ants were attracted by the water at the bottom first |

Re: Hello!
Hi there Stephanie! Great that you he started to post on the forum. Welcome! Looks like your Sarracenia will be getting a boost in nutrients and will have a growth spurt soon. You mean the ants were attracted to the water in the water tray or water in the pitcher?
By the way, you can make the pictures appear in your post instead of a link. After you have uploaded it, close the "Attachement" table, move your coursor to the location you want the picture and move your mouse courcor over the "Attachement" button again. You will be able to see the picture you uploaded. Click on it and it will be attached on the post. After you click "Submit" the picture will appear on your post.

Re: Hello!
Hi David,
I saw the ants at the base of the plant and running up and down the pitcher. As you know the base is wet, the ants must have been thirsty Oh, thanks for your advice on the pictures. I will do that next time. Best regards, Stephanie |
