Paper pockets

Hi guys......I've receied seeds from quite a lot of people and some of you guys fold a paper and it becomes a "pocket" sort of thing so that seeds can be stored inside without spilling all around the envelope..So how do you guys fold it till its like that?? I hope you get what i mean

Did you throw away the packets already? If you still have them, then just try to open them or close them in reverse as you opened them. I too like how they were made, but the first time I got one I quikly copied how it was done and has been doing the same every since.

The key is this:

1. You need a perfect (or near pefect) square piece of paper.

2. You crease it in the middle to form a triangle.

3. You fold the two edges of the triangle towards each other, then fold the top part so that there is still some extra paper on the top to insert.

Yes would be easier with photos or drawings, have no time to do it yet. But as I said try to learn by using the old packets first.

Great work powersensor, did you make this just now or you had this with you for some time?

The only difference is that I would put the seeds in between 5 and 6. But your system is probably the correct one.

The drawing is fresh from the pan. Just feel like drawing it (using mspaint)when I see the request. Filling seeds between 5 & 6 is fine too. It depends on individual preference. Hope this is helpful to fellow members.

I think the paper envelope is better than the plastic ones which I received seeds in previously. The small seeds of sundews like to stick onto the surface of plastic, difficult to get out..

If there would be a choice, i would prefer paper bags, since theyre better for the environment and stuff, but only bakers use them, otherwhere plastic bags are omnipresent, so theres no real choice

Thanks powersensor for your drawings. I'll archive it so that members can refer to it in the future.

Here's what I learnt from Adam Strathairn (aka strath76) who runs the Victorian Carnivorous Plant Society Seed Bank. I am using this way to pack the seeds for the PetPitcher Seed Bank. I find it is not so thick although the packing is smaller with powersensor's way. On point No.5 and No.6, you can fold the paper further in so that one side can be pushed into the other side locking the pack together. For PetPitcher Seed Bank I place a double sided tape to seal the pack and stick it on the seed pack envelope. That way no chance of it opening.

Adam also uses the way done by powersensor in the illustration above to pack seeds for the Victorian CP Society Seed Bank.
